What about the "war on child porn"? It seems that every lessening of civil liberties requested by the attorney general is intended to fight terrorism or child porn.

You might have a chance if they search your child, but I doubt it. You are going to lose the locker search big time. The only chance you might have is if the school charges you child for use of a locker. (yes, some schools have started that) If they are charging for the locker then you might actually have renter's rights, if not then the locker is school property and they can pretty much do what they want. You might also want to look closely at any and all paperwork that is signed by you and your child. Some schools have contracts that your child must sign. These contracts have your child agreeing to follow a student code or the regulations in some handbook. Often these contracts permit the searches that you are worried about. I have always found the contracts funny, I thought that a minor wasn't allowed to enter into a binding contract?

I have some money set aside and I guarantee that if our school board tries to pull of a warrantless search of my children's locker or person they are in for a lawsuit - with or without the assistance of the ACLU or other civil liberties organization. It's not that I don't trust the police not to molest or harass my kids - but, let's face it, when the police chief has no qualms about lying to school children about drugs and scamming for the DEA, what is my basis for trust?
