Property rights make little sense if a monopoly capitalist has the ability, through massive accumulation and surplus, to exact these rights at the detriment of others. This used to be called tyranny.

today's illogical sense of property rights asserted by "conservatives" in truly totalitarian splendor show how ethically and intellectually void the decadadent culture is.

The fact is a super-walmart in Flagstaff will not increase consumption in flagstaff but will increase the share of total aggragate consumption in Flagstaff. The result, local business will be crushed by Wal-Mart ability to achieve lower prices.

Now, arguing for one's property rights as they abuse others makes little sense. It is as if you believe that one has the right to abuse others given that this abuse is someone operating freely under property rights. This is absolutely ridiculous.

If someone is punching you in the face do you resist or is it the right of their freedom to attack you?

Anyway, anyone living and working in Flagstaff should boycott the Flagstaff Chamber of COmmerce, the Arizona Daily SUn, and WalMart for their lack of ethcial integrity. The Flagstaff Chamber broke its mission statement and sold out local business interests to those of multinational monopolist Wal-Mart and real estate interests.

Hi Coyote
Interesting story.
The ordinance seemed unnecessarily complex. Wouldn't it have been easier to propose banning firms that put up signs with the letters "Wal-...." on their buildings?

Good coverage, Coyote.
