The very first question one must ask of any person or organisation making claims pro or anti the Global Warming issue is: What is the main source of your financial support, and who pays it?

I was interested when I started reading this post, thinking that an alternative to Kyoto for reducing GHGs would be presented. When you threw out basically the entire scientific consensus behind climate change by quoting non-scientific, ideological organizations like Cato and Heartland, you lost me.

Why do you have such a problem with the findings of IPCC? Is it like a conspiracy theory? Have you actually read the IPCC TAR? http://www.ipcc.ch . Read the Summary for Policy Makers. If you want current climate science, look at http://www.realclimate.org . Between these two, your five questions are answered, in spades. Look at my site http://climateprotectioncampaign.typepad.com/climate_myth_buster/ where I take on the skeptics.

Regarding Kyoto, it is not a final solution, and it is not perfect. It was not intended to be. It is a start. However, it does do some important things. 1) It sets in motion a process to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that has some bite to it; 2) It incentivizes reductions by creating a carbon market; 3) It incentivizes investment in efficiency and renewable energy by developed nations in developing countries.

I would be interested in debating you on these issues. However, if you insist on quoting ideological think tanks that do no actual scientific research and have no data to support their claims, and you reject actual scientific findings as "advocacy", that is a non-starter.
